 The vision of Tewkesbury Baptist Church is...
"Tewkesbury Baptist Church exists to reach the world for Jesus, beginning with Tewkesbury"
In order to implement the vision the Church needs to be:
A Fellowship, that lives under the authority of God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). This authority will be in evidence through Godly people who obey His directives, and who have a World vision that focuses on the local church. They will be men of boldness and sensitivity, filled with the Holy Spirit, flowing in the gifts of the Spirit, manifesting the fruit of the Spirit, and having the scriptures as their guide and authority in God.
Under the authority of its leaders, the church (the body of poeple) will be:
- A birthing place where unbelievers are born again, and become disciples, are released from the past and equipped to serve the purpose of God in this generation, under the direction, discipline and gifting of the Holy Spirit.
- A centre of worship and prayer, where believers rejoice together in knowing God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), submit to his authority, encouraging and building each other up in their faith. Their worship will be expressed in service to God and others, through the exercise of the gifts of the Spirit.
- A centre of service, where people can exercise their gifts under the covering and authority of the leadership, thus developing in confidence and freedom, moving out into the Community and wherever God directs them in the world, as Ambassadors for Christ.
- A sending church, whose desire is to see the world reached for Christ, and which lives to make it possible for its members to go and do whatever God directs them, wherever he sends them. A church that is committed to adequately support those who are sent - prayerfully, financially and by every means that will encourage them and enable them to do the work of the Lord.
- A place of restoration, where those who are weary from the battle will find refreshment and renewed vision. Where those who have experienced failure can find forgiveness and restoration, through repentance and the loving care and discipline of the other members of the body of Christ.
